Suggest A Poll
This thread is for people to suggest polls for the myBrandeis home page. We want polls to be as welcoming and non-biased as possible. We welcome your ideas!

This is a suggestion for poll format. Could there be a place for comments? I know this isn't intended as a discussion thread, but I'm often frustrated because my thoughts don't fit the options listed.

As we never receive suggestions, I generally try to put up amusing polls with somewhat silly options. We believe that serious polls would be a very valuable tool, if only organizations on campus would request them. Along with this, I believe a discussion thread for each poll would be an excellent addition. You might notice that whenever we put up "serious" polls we usually link to a discussion topic. There are several things I am hoping to do to improve polls, and that is certainly a good one to add to the list. The technical implications are a bit tricky though...

Thanks for your feedback!

Is there a way to archive past polls? It would be helpful to prevent duplicates and to give people a general idea of what sort of thing you want.

https://my.brandeis.edu/admin/poll/ gives access to past polls. I guess that might not be entirely public, though.

Off-campus users: what ISP do you use?

I'm not sure what the options are - perhaps people will suggest a few?

Response to suggest a poll
What about a poll about support for invading Iraq? Or did I miss it and we already did it? I remember something about someone proposing a referendum . . . Is this too serious?

What about a poll about possible commencement speakers?

Poll Suggestion
I was wondering if there could be a poll to measure listenership of WBRS and viewership of B-TV? Several thousand dollars go to these organizations from our student activities fund, and I would like to know if the student's money is being used the right way.

What about a poll regarding how people feel about only minorities being able to vote for the minority senator and the minority a-boar representative? The choices should include whether or not the person is a minority (i.e. "i'm a minority and i feel non-minorities should be able to vote" or "i'm not a minority and i feel non-minorities shouldn't be able to vote")

Poll idea
I think an intersting poll would be where first-years would like to live next year. Choices would be Rosenthal, East, Castle, and other sophomore housing...
I think most people would pick rosenthal, but this poll would be a good way to quantify that.

Other sophomore housing would probably be 567, Grad, North, whatever Reslife dreams up next, off-campus, and don't know yet.

I think it would be interesting to have a poll asking how many people have known one of the three students that died within the past year.
