Hi Sivanne, My name is Craig and I am a first year MCB student. I remember being in your position last year, I was also quite nervous. To be honest though, the interview is very laid back, it is much less stressful then you think. If you have been invited for the interview, that means that the school is already impressed with your credentials and are interested in having you here. Just be yourself, express your natural interest, and enjoy yourself. If you do this, you will be fine. Regarding preparation, do not stress over it. Dress nicely, choose to meet with professors whose work interests you, and be yourself. All the professors here are very welcoming, interesting, and fun to be around. If you have any other questions you can email me at stropkay@gmail.com. I dont mind talking more about it. Maybe I will see you soon! Craig

Hey, I'm an Israeli American who went to Brandeis for undergrad. I did a BS in Health: Science, Society and Policy so I had a number of classes in the life sciences. Without knowing anything about what you might be studying, here are my thoughts on professors Hall is a total creep. He once had an entire converation with my breasts and there was a rumor that he made threats of physical violence at one of my classmates. I liked Goode when I had a class with him. Some people thought he was a little too into his research and maybe didn't care so much about his students. K.C. Hayes is rather self involved and really into the "mind body connection" Birren is wonderful and extremely knowlegable. Tsipis is great too but I think she's mostly retired at this point.

Hi Sivanne, I'm also Israeli-American and I'm a first year MCB grad student here at Brandeis. I think the best thing you can do for yourself with the interview process is just to stay calm, and answer the best you can about your scientific experiences. Sometimes it can be nerve-wracking, but they are just trying to make sure you had an understanding about what you were doing, so that you have some exposure to science. They basically just ask you about what kinds of experiences you've had, (so it's good to go over it in your head ahead of time) and to tell them about it. They might ask you a question or two about the science itself, but as long as you attempt to answer reasonably, it should be fine even if you don't know the answer. If you'd like to e-mail me privately, I'd be happy to answer any other questions you have: danna@brandeis.edu Good luck! ~Danna
