Club Description
ABADA-Capoeira New York City aims to bring to a diversegroup of youth the Brazilian art of Capoeira, a 500-year-old martial art and dance developed by Brazilian slaves. Through the practice of Capoeira, students benetis not only from the physical rigors of the art, but also learns Portuguese language, musical instruments and other cultural elements that are integral parts of the art. Capoeira is in many ways a physical and creative outlet that promotes a sense of community and self-confidence.
This is a chartered club. That means that it can use University resources and can request funding from the Finance Board.
