Club Description

a. The purpose of Chak de ‘Deis is to create a greater awareness of South Asian dance styles on campus and provide an opportunity for all members of the Brandeis community to learn Bollywood, Bhangra and Garba dances year-round. We intend to promote South Asian culture more by performing at various venues and creating venues for performing in the Brandeis community as well as by holding open practices in each dance form, which may be taught by a professional instructor or member of the Brandeis community. There will also be a core dance team that will require trying out and that will compete and perform in South Asian dance competitions throughout the Boston area and beyond. b. Chak de ‘Deis intends to achieve it purpose through dance practices, performances, and various other activities such as trips to other performances and movie screenings regarding South Asian dance forms.

This is a chartered club. That means that it can use University resources and can request funding from the Finance Board.

Meetings: We hold dance practices twice a week usually in Gosman from 8-10 on Tuesday and 8-10 on Thursday but was for show Mela. Now, will prepare for Culture X with different times in the Spring
