Club Description

Global Haiti Initiative: Brandeis Chapter ---------------------------------------- I. Purpose and Methods of Realizing Said Objectives a. The Global Haiti Initiative (GHI) serves as an intercollegiate clearinghouse for developmental programs in Haiti. By creating progressive sustainable change, the Global Haiti Initiative will transform compassion into action while addressing the severe social and economic problems in Haiti. The Global Haiti Initiative intends to achieve its purpose through events such as bi-weekly forums, special guest speakers, allied organizations, and events held throughout campus and city wide; to address the needs of Haiti. --------------------------- b. Given (1) the impressive number of Haitian and Haitian-American staff and students at Brandeis University, (2) Haiti’s significant need for social justice and global respect, and (3) its relevant, rich, and inspiring culture and history; Haiti ought to have an active and visible presence on campus. Through GHI, we are committed to building awareness about Haiti’s culture, history, and current status.

This is a chartered club. That means that it can use University resources and can request funding from the Finance Board.
