"Leaves of Grass," The First 100 Years: Whitmania 1855-1955 - an LTS Show & Tell Event on September 25th

Released on September 24, 2008
Contact: Sarah Shoemaker, sshoemak@brandeis.edu, x64641

Come see Brandeis's rare collection of early editions of /Leaves of Grass/, the major work in verse of America's "Good Gray Poet," Walt Whitman! (If you saw the "Banned, Burned, and Blacklisted" Show & Tell last year, you'll know that the groundbreaking /Leaves of Grass/ was banned in Boston in 1881.)

Other fascinating items documenting Whitman's publication and reception over the hundred years following this book's first publication will be on display as well.

Drop in and see the one-day exhibit, curated by Daniel V. Donatacci, PhD candidate in English and American literature.
