Press Display: The Way Online Newspapers Should Be

Released on October 02, 2010
Contact: Judy Pinnolis, pinnolis@brandeis.edu

So much of the news these days looks the same: Text. Text. Text. But if you're looking for a real newspaper, with the look and feel of a real newspaper, check out Press Display.

Press Display features over 1400 newspapers from 89 countries in 39 languages. You can read the papers on very the same day they’re published locally. This is the database for the "little guy" – small newspapers from hometowns all over the world – maybe even your own! And you can read it in full, with the color photos, text, ads, and announcements just as they appear in the real paper.

Maybe you want to listen to the news while you're doing something else. Many of the newspapers in Press Display have a feature that allows the newspaper to be read aloud to you. Another great feature is the "page turner", where the online edition has the look and feel of turning a newspaper page, so it's easy to browse. You can search for articles the way you would with a real paper, or with the handy search features... the best of both the print and digital worlds.

Press Display lets you learn about international stories from the perspective of those outside the US. You can read newspapers from other countries in their native language, and some in English. Or, you can use a feature that translates the article for you into the language you best understand.

Press Display is one of those databases you can use for class research or just for yourself. Get the news every day – the way you want to view it.

Please note that online access to PressDisplay is available for 6 simultaneous users only. Please click SIGN OUT when you are finished using the database and close the browser.
