Student focus groups for input into a Master Plan for renovations to LTS buildings, Thursday April 27

Released on April 25, 2006

Dear Brandeis Student,

I am happy to announce that Carole Wedge (President) and Janette Blackburn (Senior Associate) of Shepley Bulfinch Richardson & Abbott (see www.sbra.com) will be conducting focus groups to guide them in developing a Master Plan for future renovations of Farber, Goldfarb, Treasure Hall, Science Library, and Feldberg. As a way to get student input for this important project, I have arranged for four sessions on this Thursday, April 27th, at 1, 2, 3, and 4 PM; the 4 PM meeting is for graduate students. I know that this is a very busy time, but it would be very helpful if you could attend one of these sessions. Each session is 60 minutes and will be in the Gardner-Jackson Room in Goldfarb.

SBRA's charge is to:

  • Develop a Master Plan for future renovations to LTS spaces. The goal of this effort is to identify areas for renovation that will enhance the environment for students and faculty, support the curricular and learning goals of Brandeis, and facilitate the working integration of the Library and Technology staff and services.
  • Perform assessment of the existing interior space utilization, arrangement, condition, character and their correlation with LTS’s programmatic goals and objectives. This will include evaluation of the mechanical, electrical, structural and supporting building systems.
  • Create a Phasing Plan for the Master Plan, guiding the University in the future achievement of the identified renovations. This effort will include cost estimating of various projects, as subsequent phases, and recommendations for prioritization of projects.
I hope that one of these meetings on Thursday, April 27th will work for you.

Regards,

Perry
