Campus-wide Appletalk networking to be disabled
Released on June 13, 2006
Contact: John Turner, turner@brandeis.edu
On June 30, LTS will disable the Appletalk protocol on the campus-wide network in response to requests from Brandeis technology coordinators and systems administrators. After the change, Appletalk, an obsolete and inefficient network protocol used by older Macintosh computers, will still be available for use as needed within local network subnets but campus-wide Appletalk network zones will no longer be visible to Macintosh users. Before disabling Appletalk, LTS will work closely with campus technology coordinators to ensure a seamless transition.
