At Brandeis, we empower our students to do great things. It all starts with a close-knit, welcoming community — and a shared commitment to changing the world.
Applying to Brandeis is about much more than transcripts and test scores. Our admissions process helps us to get to know you not just as students, but as individuals and members of your communities.
A Brandeis education provides you with a broad-based, liberal arts education within a research-driven, intellectually rich and experiential environment.
Brandeis is for students who aren't afraid to admit they have a lot to discover. Life here is about trying new things — lots of new things — until you find the ones you love.
Brandeis has a test-optional policy and applicants are not required to submit SAT or ACT scores. Applicants can decide for themselves whether their test results best reflect their academic ability and potential.
Consistent with recommendations from the National Association for College Admissions Counseling, all applicants can apply under our test-optional policy. This includes homeschooled applicants, candidates applying from secondary schools that provide written evaluations rather than grades, candidates attending online/virtual high schools and GED recipients.
Brandeis accepts self-reported exam scores* for admissions review. Applicants who self-report scores, earn admission, and choose to attend Brandeis will have to send their official scores via the testing agency or on an official school document before they can matriculate.
*Students who are required to submit English Proficiency exams will need to submit official scores upon submission of their application.
Submission Options
Applicants should choose one of three submission options.
Submit your SAT or ACT.
The writing portion of the SAT is not required.
We will superscore each exam if more than one set of results is submitted.
Use the following Brandeis test codes:
SAT: 3092
ACT: 1802
Submit three exams from approved list below. You must take the exams before your admissions application deadline.
One exam must be from a science or math discipline.
One exam must be from an English or social science discipline.
The third exam may be from a discipline of the applicant's choosing. If you choose two exams from the same discipline, they may not be in the same academic subject.
For GCE (Cambridge) A Level tests to be considered, predicted A or AS scores must be dated and sent to the Admissions Office directly from Cambridge or the counselor at your school.
Test results from the French Baccalaureate, German Abitur and Swiss Matura will be accepted in addition to the list below.
Submit a paper and one additional letter of recommendation written by an academic teacher from an 11th or 12th grade class.
The Admissions Committee prefers the paper be from an English, social science or history course and if possible, be graded. The paper can be submitted through the Common Application or your DEISconnect account (for files larger than 500KB) and must be written in English.
